Google is the technology company behind Search, Android, Chrome, YouTube, Google Cloud and the Gemini family of AI models, operating as the principal subsidiary of Alphabet. Founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, it is led by chief executive Sundar Pichai, who also runs Alphabet. Its AI research arm, Google DeepMind, formed by merging DeepMind with Google Brain, develops the Gemini models and is run day to day by Koray Kavukcuoglu. Google announced Gemini 4 Argon, its frontier model for software engineering, enterprise knowledge work and cybersecurity defence, in September 2026.
