India banned PUBG Mobile in 2020 as a China-linked app. Its publisher was Tencent, which owns roughly a tenth of Krafton. BGMI was banned again in 2022 and returned on trial in 2023.
Only four or five of Krafton's roughly 18 Indian investments are game studios. The rest are media and content businesses including Nodwin, Loco, Pratilipi, Kuku FM and One Impression.
