Hyderabad Cybercrime police have registered two cases naming Meta's India head Arun Srinivas and unidentified Facebook and Instagram account operators over allegedly morphed content depicting PM Modi.
Both complaints came from private individuals. One complainant is described in reports as a member of the Telangana BJP's social media cell.
The filings land in the same week MeitY summoned Meta over a Modi video briefly removed from Facebook, pulling the company in opposite directions on moderation.
No arrest has been reported, no charge has been tested in court, and the sections invoked have not been disclosed. A registered case establishes an allegation, not a finding.
