Officers at 225 county agencies across 25 states use the tool daily, and the company says its customer base grew elevenfold over the past year.

The system returns the underlying regulation rather than generating an answer. That is a trust argument for a sceptical user base and a liability posture at the same time.

Its competitor Lexipol writes the policy manuals themselves for thousands of agencies, which makes authoring, not retrieval, the position that matters over time.
